VIKTOR SURNYK, MANAGING PARTNER OF ALARIUS ATTORNEYS AT LAW, JOINED THE V INTERNATIONAL CRIMINAL LAW FORUM.
Since the beginning of the Russian Federation's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Ukrainian lawyers, diplomats, government officials and colleagues from partner countries, and international organisations have been working tirelessly to find practical mechanisms for investigating crimes of aggression and genocide against the Ukrainian people, and to collect evidence for war crimes.
This issue gave rise to a professional discussion at the V International Criminal Law Forum, which took place on 12 April 2023. Managing Partner of ALARIUS Attorneys at Law Victor Surnyk took part in the event and shared his thoughts on the topic with his colleagues.
Viktor Surnyk remarked that trial for war crimes, increasing sanctioning pressure on the aggressor state, and compensation for damage caused by the war is the primary duty of the professional community in the future.
The forum was organised by Yurydychna Praktyka Publishing House and attended by members of the Ukrainian Parliament, judges of the Supreme Court, the High Anti-Corruption Court, judges of district courts, representatives of the Prosecutor General's Office, the Specialised Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office, the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption, the National Central Bureau of Interpol in Ukraine, international experts, business representatives, and partners of leading law firms.
